North Cotswolds Tour

Tour of the North Cotswolds

If you are not sure what you want, let me take you on a ‘Classic North Cotswolds Tour’, which is one that takes in all the villages you ought to see on a day out in the Cotswolds.

Classic Tour of the North Cotswolds

Places to visit

Stow-on-the-Wold

Stow is a beautiful old market town full of history from the Norman Church to the Roman Road, the Fosse Way and on to the Battle of Stow. It is the highest town in the Cotswolds and it is often said that “The wind blows cold in Stow-on-the-Wold”.

Chipping Campden

Chipping Campden Public Footpaths Sign Post

A “must-visit” town on any tour of the North Cotswolds. The town grew in size and wealth thanks to the wool trade in the middle ages. So many historic buildings to marvel at. All built from the loaclly quarried, soft, warm Cotswold stone.

Broadway and Tower

Broadway Tower

From Broadway Tower you can take in the amazing views across the countryside. On a clear day you can see 16 counties. Climb the tower, visit the museum, wander around the park and finish with a coffee and cake in the cafe.

Stanway House

Stanway House

Arguably, one of the prettiest Jacobean Manor houses in the Cotswolds, dating back to the late 16th Century.   As well as the house you have to visit the wonderful historic gardens, the amazing waterfall with its fully restored flour mill.

The Slaughters

Lower Slaughter in the Cotswolds

Oddly enough, nothing to do with slaughtering!  The name actually comes from the old English word “slough” meaning wetlands.  One of my favourite villages to visit and and for a gentle stroll along the river.

Things to see and do

Bouton-on-the-Water

Bourton on the Water. Venice of the Cotswolds

A very popular tourist destination.  The river Windrush flows through the middle of the town.  Various visitor attractions, such as the Motor Museum, Birdland and the Model Village bring people from all over the world.
